Executive Director Chris Chyung brings experience from Indiana Statehouse and Center for American Progress

INDIANAPOLIS — Today, Indiana Conservation Voters, a new 501c4 state affiliate of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), launches as a statewide environmental advocacy organization. The group will be led by Executive Director Chris Chyung who grew up in Indiana, represented District 15 in the Statehouse and worked previously as a Senior Campaign Manager at the Center for American Progress (CAP).

“I am thrilled to lead Indiana Conservation Voters,” said Chyung. “Indiana has limitless potential to improve its environment, economy, and competitive edge. Every Hoosier across the state deserves clean air, clean water, and clean energy – and by combining massive investments from new federal legislation with Hoosier values and policies, Indiana Conservation Voters can make that a reality.”

Chyung joins Indiana Conservation Voters at a pivotal point for state-led climate action and funding. As an influential organization with close ties to the Biden administration, CAP and its coalition partners, including LCV, were instrumental in the creation, advocacy, and passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, which will drive billions of dollars to state and local governments for climate, energy, and conservation incentives. Chyung’s initiative supported both state-led environmental action as well as key programs in the Inflation Reduction Act, through policy analyses, coalition building, and events with national leaders.

“We could not be more excited to support the launch of our newest state affiliate, Indiana Conservation Voters,” said LCV President Gene Karpinski. “The state has serious environmental challenges, from restoring clean rivers and streams to mitigating industrial pollution. But Indiana Conservation Voters also understands that the state has incredible potential to lead the charge for new good paying clean energy jobs and a just transition for communities across the state. Chris Chyung has our every confidence and we look forward to supporting his and ICV’s work to restore and protect Indiana’s environment.”
