ICV statement on the end of the 2025 Indiana General Assembly session
INDIANAPOLIS–Indiana Conservation Voters, a statewide nonprofit focused on clean energy, air and water, issued this statement following the end of the 2025 Indiana General Assembly session. The statement can be attributed to ICV Community and Government Affairs Manager Delaney Barber Kwon:
“This year’s session reminded us of the value of persistence, partnership and Hoosiers speaking up for what matters. Indiana Conservation Voters is proud to have worked shoulder-to-shoulder with advocates, community leaders and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to stand up for clean air, water and energy.
“Some of our priorities fell short, especially when it came to protecting consumers from utility rate hikes related to experimental energy sources, but we’re incredibly proud that we made progress to protect our water supply and implement new technology to make energy delivery more efficient. We are heartened that Gov. Braun recently issued an executive order on water resource planning.
“We also want to call out the incredible partnerships forged to push back on legislation that would weaken our democracy and make it harder for Hoosiers to vote. ‘Voters’ is part of our name, and those bills gave us an opportunity to establish new relationships with other like-minded organizations across the state.
“Wins and setbacks are part of the process, and this session made clear that when Hoosiers come together, we can change the conversation—and the outcomes. We’re energized, grateful and more committed than ever to protecting our natural environment and all who call our state home.”
